Kettelkamp and Kettelkamp
This urban town home was originally constructed in 1989, however neither the interior or exterior was completed. Our clients purchased the home with the vision of completing both in a manner befitting its original intentions.
On the first floor, smaller work rooms and hallways were removed to create a combined living and work space. Windows were added to the east to allow for views to the private side garden beyond. Custom millwork and built ins were added for storage and office space.
The original, more traditional, staircase was completely removed and a new steel and wood staircase was installed that allows it to appear to float in the center core space. A full glass wall partition was installed between the stairs and the second floor living and dining space to allow for views of the staircase as well as share light from above. On this same level a garage stone paved roof garden was designed and constructed with a contemporary louvered screening and pergola for privacy.
On the third floor, the master bedroom, bath and closets were redesigned with high transoms for shared light .More contemporary materials and fixtures were designed as well as additional windows at stairs.
